but for 35k? the same 1.3-2.5L engines all other GMs seem to be running on these days. Even 35k is a small number and I would expect it to be closer to 38-39,999

To me it's mostly about value, not just the sticker price. A generic blob like the car in FordMustangNerd's picture isn't worth even $25K to me, firstly because its exterior isn't special and doesn't evoke any emotion, and second, I could buy a used one later that may have some mileage but whose price will be waaay lower.

Then again, I'm not a typical new car buyer, it takes a LOT of inspiration and quality and attention to detail to sway me towards such a silly financial decision, others will certainly have a different perspective.

The 6th gen Camaro has been the only vehicle in my life so far that cleared this bar. As a result, my 2018 2SS has had only one owner (me), 6 miles on the odometer when taking delivery, and a new car smell that lasted for half a decade, if not more.

They have now officially stated that the ct5-v blackwing will return. They have not said what the engine layout will be, or if it will have a new name or not, but the car…in general…will return. Source is GM Authority and a car and driver article that sites GM authority (so really, the same source)

Hmm, what do you mean by it "will return"? It never went away in the first place.

They need to stick with the CT5 name. The Blackwing variant has put it on the map and its built some brand recognition. I believe the CT5 was previously the CTS which was something else also not that long ago.

The current generation is ending in 2026 IIRC. The new version may be a 2028 model that begins production in 2027, or it could be a 2027 model that debuts this or early next year.

Yeah, the CT and XT names have been around for a bit, (as were CTS, STS, etc. before), Cadillac has seemed to want to go back to having names instead of copying the German car designations (E series, 5 series, A6, etc.). They could certainly keep the designations/names they have, but they also seem to love changing the names too... Time will tell.

I suspect that the base car will arrive first (will keep using CT5), which might include the normal V variant. The Blackwing variant (m5 competitor) may come as much as one or two years later.

Current generation:
The regular version (CT5) went on sale in the fall of 2019 as a 2020 model
CT5-V went on sale in early 2020 as a 2020
The CT5-V Blackwing went on sale Feb 1 2021 as a 2022 model.

Hoping the CT5-V will include the NA version of the 6.7 putting out 525 hp while the Blackwing has a super or turbo charged engine putting out close to 800
