Non-enthusiast buyers = the people that keep a car in production.
More base engine cars are sold than high performance versions, and that includes halo cars as well. Do not look down on the non-enthusiast buyers. The vehicles they buy are the very ones that allow you to buy your V8...
I think there are tons of "closet" enthusiasts out there that are more sensible and practical than I am. These people love the Camaro and Chevy brand and they tend to buy the cheap version of the Camaro.

I disagree with thinking of them as non-enthusiasts. I think they just have less money or are more sensible.

Non-enthusists = minivan shoppers
I agree. People who actually are not enthusiasts are going to buy something fitting a different need. Basic transportation, people hauler, etc. Performance won't be in the picture, and even the base Camaro will be performance oriented.

I remember years ago comparing the V6 Camaro vs. V6 Mustang. The V6 in the Camaro at the time impressed me a lot. I ended up buying a Mustang due to price and the options of the specific used cars I was comparing. I bought a lower version, not a V8, but I was 100% an enthusiast. Just with fewer funds.

GM is keeping Camaro name alive for Nascar as it will be the name of the new performance fastback sedan.
