If the Gen 7 Camaro is also produced in RHD, as is the Mustang, there would be a definite market for this car in Aussie, where the factory produced RHD version Mustang sells very well because it has no competition. Locally converted cars were good, but because of Aussie conversion costs were expensive (ZL1 $160K Aus!). Only 350 Gen 6 ZL1s sold in Aussie.

Equal or better chassis, two door, M6, V8 with 500+ hp/tq, a better stereo, upgraded electronics and interior and the 1LE package. Yeah, I would be in. Conveniently it’s my turn in the new vehicle purchase rotation.

I'm wondering if the new Camaro news is causing people to hold off on buying. I sold my 6th Gen about a year ago and have been looking to replace it ever since. I've been watching the market religiously for the last year, and over the past month or so I've noticed that even the really good deals on 6th Gens seem to be sitting longer than they used to.

For example, I found one recently that I probably would have jumped on six months ago before this news broke: a 2018 Hyper Blue, fully loaded, single-owner car with just over 20,000 miles--clean car fax—basically the exact spec I've been searching for. The dealer was asking $37,000 a month ago, and they've already dropped it to $32,000. Despite that, it still hasn't sold.

It makes me wonder if buyers are taking a wait-and-see approach right now rather than pulling the trigger. I'm sure cost of living and interest rates etc are playing a role.

I think gas price volatility is a part of it too. Interest rates are higher compared to where they were 5 years ago or so, but historically they're still fairly low. I think I could get mid 5% if I wanted a car loan, which isn't great, but not bad either.

Automobile choices are definitely correlated with gas prices.

Do you think that's true for a toy vehicle? I understand it if it's someone's primary mode of transportation—like choosing between a Camry and a Tahoe—but I don't think people buying a Camaro as a "toy" are too concerned about gas prices.

Maybe. My SS 1LE is certainly a toy and you're correct that I don't really care about gas prices, but then, I'm buying gas and insurance for five vehicles, none of which get particularly good mileage. Having said that, my son's Mustang Ecoboost is an every day driver.

I think most Camaro owners use them as their primary vehicle though. How many people buy a turbo 4 Camaro as a toy?

That's kind of my point. A turbo-4 Camaro is much more likely to be someone's daily driver than an SS 1LE. If it's your primary vehicle, fuel economy matters. If it's a weekend toy, it probably doesn't. I think we're talking about two very different groups of buyers.

My example was a 2SS not selling even after dropping the price $5k... I don't believe that car is not selling because of the price of gas.. I think it is more because of maybe the 7th Gen news or maybe the V8 Camaro market has finally started to come to it's senses... idk.. it just seemed odd to me.. 2 months ago that car was sold in 1-2 days.. Now it's sitting.

You could be right. I'm holding off on a Corvette purchase until the 8th gen comes out because I figure the 7th gen used pricing will drop off a bit. Hoping to swoop in and pick up a ZR1 for maybe a $150K or so.
